About Department

The department of History in Venutai Chavan College offers a unique, knowledgeable and creative field of History. The department has a strong focus on research with faculty who are experts in their fields. The History department seeks to build its students' transferable skills, employability and intellectual curiosity, along with raising public awareness about the past and its legacies, through teaching, research and service activities conducted locally, statewide, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Above all, the faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students within and outside the campus as and when required.


Department of History strated in 1972. Initially the department had a limited strength. But leeter it took massive jump and at present it is IIone of the leading department among the colleges affilitted to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur so far as the streanght of students is concerned. Dr.J.J.Kadam were the Ex. faculty memebers of the department. At present Prof.(Dr.) S. R. Sarode is the Professor and Head of Department, Smt. T.T. Sarkale is the Assistant Professor and faculty memebers.

Vision

Foster awareness of the past: Through teaching, research, and extension activities, the History Department aims to cultivate an understanding of Indian history within the broader context of world history.
Promote critical thinking: By encouraging critical analysis of historical events, the department seeks to empower students to comprehend the present and envision the future with depth and insight.
Bridge past, present, and future: Our vision is to bridge the gap between the past, present, and future by equipping students with the tools to contextualize historical legacies and apply their insights to contemporary issues.
